"A Comprehensive Guide to KT Board, Coroplast, and PVC Board for Advertising"

May 15,2023

Three common types of panels in the advertising industry: KT board, corrugated board, and PVC board. What are the differences among them? What are their respective applications in the advertising industry?
KT board
KT board is a new type of material made by foaming polystyrene (PS) particles into a core and then laminating it with surface film. It features a rigid, lightweight structure that resists deterioration, is easy to process, and allows direct screen printing (screen-printed board), painting (requires testing for paint compatibility), back adhesive lamination, and spray painting. It is widely used in advertising displays, promotional activities, aircraft models, architectural decoration, cultural arts, packaging, and other applications.
Ultra Cardboard
Superboard, also known as plastic paperboard, is an improved version of KT board. It is formed by thermocompressing a double-layer PS foam board core with double-sided PS film. The surface film is very thin, approximately 1-2 mils, and the single-layer PS board core has a density of about 100g. Both sides of the board are bonded with a higher-density double-sided adhesive paper, resulting in excellent surface adhesion, high board hardness, good stiffness, and long-term resistance to bubbling. It is suitable for long-term picture mounting and can also be directly used for spray painting.
PVC board
Polyvinyl chloride (PVC) plastic is a polymer formed by the free radical polymerization of vinyl chloride monomers, with the English name polyvinyl chloride, abbreviated as PVC. PVC plastic sheets can be categorized into soft PVC and hard PVC, with hard PVC accounting for approximately two-thirds of the market, while soft PVC makes up one-third. PVC essentially functions as a vacuum-formed plastic film, used for surface packaging of various panels, hence also known as decorative film or adhesive film. It is widely applied in industries such as building materials, packaging, and pharmaceuticals!
The Application of KT Board in the Advertising Industry

KT board serves two primary purposes in advertising: first, as a mounting backboard for displaying exhibition, promotional, and notice information, and second, its extensive application in screen printing, making it particularly suitable for large-scale unified promotional campaigns. Dimensions: widths range from 0.9m to 1.2m, with a standard length of 2.4m.
Advantages and Features

Advantages: The board is firm, lightweight, resistant to deterioration, easy to process, and cost-effective.

Disadvantages: Highly prone to deformation and easy to bubble.

Suggestion: Since the finished product effects are similar, short-term advertising materials are recommended for use, as they can achieve the desired results while saving costs.

The Application of Super Cardboards in the Advertising Industry

Superboard and regular KT board share common features, such as being relatively lightweight. Superboard offers advantages in hardness, texture, quality, and resistance to bubbling. For applications requiring bubble-free performance and multiple uses, superboard is recommended, as it outperforms regular KT board in terms of bubble resistance and provides better cost performance.
Advantages and Features

Advantages: Resistant to deformation and bubbling, super cardboard is an improved version of KT board.

Suggestion: For advertising materials with a usage period exceeding one week, consider opting for corrugated board instead of KT board.

The Application of PVC Boards in the Advertising Industry

PVC (polyvinyl chloride) is produced through a substitution reaction involving ethylene, chlorine, and a catalyst. Due to its fire-resistant and heat-resistant properties, PVC is widely used in various industries, including construction, automotive and ship manufacturing, furniture, decoration, advertising production, exhibition signage, urban environmental protection, tourism, and more.

PVC boards can generally be used to create advertising signs through CNC cutting machines or manual methods. They are characterized by being sawable, planable, nailable, and adhesive-friendly, with features such as deformation resistance, crack resistance, and no need for painting (available in various colors).
Advantages and Features

Advantages: Excellent adhesion of the board surface, high board hardness, good stiffness, and long-term resistance to bubbling and deformation.

Disadvantage: The price is higher than the previous two!

Recommendation: Long-term advertising materials are recommended for use.
