Advertising materials come in a wide variety and can be categorized in multiple ways. Some are classified by material type, such as plastic, artificial marble, aluminum alloy, wood, and acrylic. Others are categorized by function, including thermoformed lightboxes, spray-painted materials, reflective materials, engraved materials, and display equipment. Regardless of the classification method, the following types of printed panels are essential for advertising professionals to know.

KT board
KT board is made by foaming polystyrene (Polystyrene) particles and is categorized into cold board and hot board based on different production processes. The requirements for KT board in the advertising industry are to be free of bubbles and deformation. Bubbling in hot boards is mostly due to a short maturation period or overly thin surface layers, while bubbling in cold boards is primarily caused by poor adhesive application during production or prolonged direct sunlight exposure. Compared to cold boards, hot boards are priced lower mainly because their production cycle is shorter, requires less material, and involves higher production volumes.

PP board
PP board is a type of plastic sheet made from PP resin mixed with various functional additives, processed through extrusion, calendering, cooling, and cutting. It is a semi-crystalline material with relatively high hardness and melting point, as well as excellent surface stiffness and scratch resistance. Commonly available types on the market include PP hollow boards, PP plastic sheets, PP honeycomb boards, and PP cut boards.

acrylic sheet
Acrylic (PMMA), commonly known as organic glass, has the chemical name Poly(methyl methacrylimide) or polymethyl methacrylate. Acrylic boards are widely used in light boxes, signage, indicator signs, display stands, and more. They have a lifespan over three years longer than ordinary materials, excellent light transmittance, and require lower light intensity, saving energy. With strong impact resistance—sixteen times that of ordinary glass—they are also easy to maintain and can be recycled for reuse.

Organic board
Organic board, also known as PS board, has the chemical name Polystyrene. Its heat resistance, light transmittance, impact resistance, weather resistance, and aging resistance are inferior to those of acrylic board.

PVC board
PVC board is a material made from PVC as the raw material, featuring a honeycomb-like mesh structure in cross-section. It can be categorized into PVC skin-core foam board and PVC free foam board based on manufacturing processes. PVC foam board possesses properties such as corrosion resistance, moisture resistance, mildew resistance, water impermeability, drillability, sawability, planability, ease of thermal forming, and heat bending processing. Therefore, it is widely used in various fields, including furniture, cabinets, bathroom cabinets, exhibition stands, box cores, indoor and outdoor decoration, building materials, chemical industries, as well as industries like advertising signage, printing, screen printing, spray painting, computer engraving, and electronic instrument packaging.
